The first pair of boots I ordered was sent back due to the left boot was not waterproof. The second pair arrived 2 days ago and its the same issue. After walking for around 1 hour on a wet grass the left side of the boots the water seems to be seeping through and after 2 hours and not constant walking the the same thing happens on the right boot. I am not sure how you claim to have tested the boots for 16 kms walk on a wet surface when all I did was 3 kms and the boots failed miserably. I am hoping someone can explain as this will be my 3 rd boots to be returned should I wish to.
Had these boots for a month now. Very impressed with the way the boots did not need any breaking in very comfortable from the outset. Would advise that you upgrade the insoles though. Philip.
As good as the Quechua 400 boots I bought five years ago, which lasted half a decade of near-daily use on bikes, in forests, on hills, on roads, and lots of dance floors!
This was my very first proper pair of hiking boots which i bought early 2016 in anticipation of a week long hut to hut trek in the Dolomites, Italy. Was a little uncomfortable initially, perhaps because the boots was new. Throughout my week long hut to hut trek along with daily via ferrata in the Dolomites, it performed very well. Very good grip ( i don't remember ever slipping), sturdy support especially around the ankles as i have weak ankles and decently waterproof in showers. It is also reasonably light considering it is well made and sturdy. Since then, I've worn the boots on all my other mountain hiking trips thus far such as in Chamonix for a total of 4 weeks, 16 days in Switzerland, 1 month in 5 National parks across the USA and Canada. I also wear them when i travel to ski at Val Thorens (2 weeks) as they keep my feet nice and warm . It is also my preferred footwear during the winter season as it keeps my feet warm and dry in the sleet and possible ice on the ground. So after 3 years, it has taken quite a beating but besides the sole and the thread getting worn out by the harsh terrain, it is still in fairly good condition. I've just bought the North Face Hedgehog Trek GTX boot as its on sale now, but i think i'll return it as the ankle support is poor compared to this pair of boots. Looks like I will buy another pair of these boots.
Would give 5 stars for the boots generally. But 1 star as they are not waterproof and cannot handle rain. While I’d recommend for dry weather I would not buy these if you want waterproof boots.
If the durability matches the fit I'll be really happy
am finding the soles of my feet sore after a whilw in these boots butthat may be me. if discomfort continuies i will slip in some gel insoles, but overall good boots
it was my sons suggestion that i try these i was looking for light weight but sturdy walking boots also waterproof and my son reccomended these and im surprised he is not a decathlon rep! however these boots have lived up to his promise and more incredibly lightweight which for me is so important as is of course comfort i would reccomend these to anyone!
With fairly wide feet its always a worry buying new boots and shoes. These fit well for length and width and have proved comfortable walking in the Peak district
Waterproof. Comfortable while pottering around on a slow dog walk. However as soon as I upped the pace and distance they started to slip badly at the heel, making sore patches. Tried tightening as much as possible, also tried different socks and then an extra pair of socks (which then made the shoes too narrow across the forefoot). Nothing worked so reluctantly had to return them. If they fit you well then you won't need to buy any other, more expensive, brands.
hi, please tell me if i use thise shoe for mounainering, what happen for that? last week i have day long snow mountain climbing whith the trek100. please tell me what happen fir my shoe? thank u
Good light weight boot for out door work or light trekking as a second pair. The tongue is a little short for my liking when the boots are laced to the top.
I bought these boots recently to replace a well known brand of German boot. They have had three outings so far and have proved to be a sound purchase. Time will tell on their longevity but I have every confidence they will cope with frequent use on differing terrain.
Completed a Munro and couple of Corbetts in these and think they are excellent have kept my feet dry even during plunges into bog water. even after all this and when walk completed the only reason my feet were wet was from sweat so in that small respect I could say they could breath better but if that compromised the weatherproofing I would say that would make the shoe worse. Recommend to anyone Munro bagging in wet conditions. Cant comment on warmth in snow.
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in the lab and in use, these boots, equipped with a waterproof and breathable membrane, ensure optimal protection against the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, they are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half-immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (approx. 4 km walk), 4000 flexes (approx. 8 km walk), 8000 flexes (approx. 16 km walk). Of course, after this test, and during use, the boot regains its original water resistance once dry.
The TREK 100 boot has been tested and validated for 8000 flexes, equivalent to a 16 km walk, in water reaching the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:- secure attachment of eyelets and hooks- sole assembly- toxicology- UV resistance- abrasion of the sole and upper components- accelerated ageing.
Try on both boots, standing up, wearing hiking socks. Try several models, several sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
TREK 100 boots are made in the European Union, in Romania. Most materials are of European origin.
